“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (
Micah 6:8) kjv
God’s hand is always good to us, and God never does anything bad to us. It is God’s blessed work that Jesus Christ came in search of us, that he endured the agony of the cross of Calvary, and that he has given us hope.
The Lord has shown us kindness, but man continues to fall into sin; it is only through the mercy and compassion of God that we are not consumed.
“Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:” Zechariah 7:9 (kjv)
God expects man to be humble before God; by humbling ourselves, we can bring goodness towards to our lives.
God expects man to be humble before God, and by doing so, we will receive blessings from God.
- God hears the humble heart. “Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.” (2 Chronicles 34:27)kjv
- God will lead the humble along the right path. “The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.”(Psalms 25:9)
)kjv - God will honor you when you are humble. “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.”(Proverbs 15:33)kjv
- Wealth, honor, and life will follow you. “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” (Proverbs 22:4)
- God will raise the humble. “The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.” (Psalms 147:6)kjv
- God bestows wisdom to the humble. “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.” (Proverbs 11:2)kjv
- In the heavenly kingdom, you are great. “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:4)kjv
- God exalt the humble. “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12)kjv “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” (James 4:10)kjv
- Preventing God’s Anger. “Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.”(2 Chronicles 32:26)kjv
- Jesus Christ humbled himself in front of God. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:5-13)kjv
Let God grant us abundant grace to humble ourselves so that we might engage in God’s goodness toward us.
